Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that was founded in 1973 by the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Backed by years of research and certified by the U.S. Department of Education in 1981, the program aims to provide students the opportunity to study collaboratively with peers led by a trained SI Leader. Benefits to students include the acquisition of study skills, organization skills and study strategies for specific courses while reinforcing course material in a timely manner. The program is being piloted in the fall of 2009 in chemistry, math review and Greek courses.
